Welcome to my new blog. Tradition dictates that this first post should introduce me and why I’m starting this blog, so here goes;

I’ve been playing online poker on and off for a year or so now, but only recently has it really begun to get its claws into me. For a long time I was just pottering along, happy to slowly bleed my bankroll away without really putting much thought into the game. This isn’t the story of a degenerate gambler (the majority of my potential readership lost at a stroke there!) – the amounts of money I’m talking about losing here is fifty or so dollars over the entire period.

The turning point came when I started reading various poker books such as Small Stakes Hold’em, and reading forums such as twoplustwo.com. I was shown two tihngs – firstly that there were distinct strategies and moves that you could master, and secondly there were people making plenty of money. Many were making a living, and some were even getting very rich from online poker.

Now while I doubt I’ll ever be the professional poker player, but this showed hope that I’d never have to reload my account with money again. If that is I can beat microstakes…

So this blog will follow my progress. It’ll give me the chance to vent my frustration, analyse my mistakes and victories and discuss the do’s and don’ts. Possibly I’ll be talking to myself, but that’s not so unusual for new blogs.
