Moments away from going busto now (<$100 left), so to stretch it out a bit longer I decided to play NL5 rush poker with the intention of working on my 6max ABC poker. The idea being to tighten up a bit (I’m too much SLAG and not enough TAG), fold to big raises more and see how a less bluffy/more valuebetting me might do.
So far so good, more or less. Had one bad beat where my KT 2pair hand went all-in against their T8 2pair, and of course an 8 rolled out on the river – however need to put in loads more hands so those beats merge into the noise.
Anyway, if I’m supposed to be playing totally ABC, then what’s the move on this hand. Assume no history or stats (it is rush poker after all);

raise flop to ~.30 – you risk 30 to win 45, utg almost always fold. if sb checks or minbets again bet close to pot on turn or bet 1/2 pot on turn and close to pot on the river to collect more dead money. when you call his gay bet you can’t have a strong hand. always raise donk minbets (min donkbets?)
I hate these weird lines. Being that he doesn’t have a full stack I’d assume his range is super wide on the flop for starters. I agree with yegor that a raise would probably show an immediate profit here, I think I’d have called also but maybe winning the dead money is better than letting villain freeroll for his outs? One thing I’ve found though is that these weak donk bets that suddenly become large have often improved on the street where the bet becomes a pot sized one… It’s a bit ridiculous calling him out for deuces but something like that would be consistent with this fishiness (or 92, 72, 42). Just the thoughts of a rather poor full ring micro Rush reg lol.
WTF is this crap? Sorry you are so busto, but asking for advice on a five cent BB hand is just wasting my time.
have to raise flop. You raise the flop he folds and all good. He re raises or shoves you can find a fold and save you money on subsequent streets
Sorry… I was a little very drunk last night!
What I meant, to put it more diplomatically, is that the closer you get in stakes to everything being practically play money the less information you can get purely from bet sizing, and the line the villain takes in this hand is a perfect indicator of that.
And playing “Rush poker” with no reads… it’s a complete bingo game. You’re into the realm of a game only mildly resembling poker, so you’ll drive yourself mad trying to figure out the correct move in spots like this.
(United is basically right, tho. Since you showed no strength on flop it’s hard to know whether he just thinks he can buy the pot on the turn.)
HUD for rushpoker works perfectly fine now..
I’d just noticed that yesterday. Somehow it made me play worse, but that was probably just a bit of bad luck.
I thought the WTF comment was a joke, but it kinda stung because really you’re right – WTF is this crap! Why am I still making bad decisions when the game is at it’s simplest. It’s like I jumped to the intermediate lessons and skipped all the basics…
