So after yesterdays post where re-evaluating my game seemed to have positive results, I kinda messed up today (although only from a results orientated perspective really).
I had one piece of fancy play where an aggrotard two places to my left 3bet my button raise several times. I decided to make a stand on the third time;
4 Players
Stacks:
CO ($10.70)
Hero ($10.15)
SB ($2)
BB ($20.50)
Pre-Flop: ($0.15, 4 players) Hero is BTN 7

1 fold, Hero raises to $0.30, 1 fold, BB raises to $1.10, Hero calls $0.80
Flop: 5

J
($2.25, 2 players)
BB bets $1, Hero calls $1
Turn: 7
($4.25, 2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $3, BB folds
Final Pot: $7.25
Hero wins $7.05 (net +$1.95)
BB lost $2.10
I would have raised the turn regardless – the idea was to let him spew his own money in a stupid blind defence, but I was glad it turned up to give me a bit of showdown.
Later I also hit a set against him and was able to draw a bigger pot of $10 from him. This all felt good, and they were hands where I was able to exploit his aggression – it felt like real poker.
However later it went wrong as a few AK all-ins went against me. This was the bit that I’m not happy about though (obviously as I lost, but that’s not what I’m talking about). It seems that in no-limit you can play ‘real poker’ and swing decent pots your way by exploiting other player’s weaknesses, but these pots are swamped by the all-in flips. I can win a series of $3 to $6 pots by understanding my opponents, and then lose $20 in a quick succession of AK vs 77… I should be thinking about this long term I guess, all the clever pots add up and all the coin flips add up. Just because one swings wider than the other shouldn’t matter. Dunno though, feels like it does though.
One of the AK shoves was a nice pressie for someone though. Supposed to be a decent squeeze, but unfortunately there were a lot of big hands out there;
