I almost wish I hadn’t had that heater the other month – without that this would be business as normal
Last night I realised I’d lost so much on Full Tilt that it wasn’t worth fighting for the bonus anymore. I switched down to 2NL to see if I could play at any level, deliberately saying to myself to not bluff, only value bet. It didn’t work out really, I still went down $5. Only silver lining there is that I freed $10 of the bonus, but what’s the point when I’m down $40 from the initial deposit…
This morning I went on to Pokerstars, hoping that the usual Saturday session would boost my bankroll a bit. I started out ok, but I made a mess of a hand where I had JJ as an overpair, and villain turned out to have a set. Same villain then took my stack with AA against AK (I must must must not call a shove with AK anymore – I’m sure it’s not a good idea). He was sitting really pretty with a 500bb stack, as he’d had similar big wins against another player – he wasn’t a difficult player, loose & passive (shame I didn’t notice the passive bit before the JJ hand), but I didn’t get any decent hands against him (or rather I did, but he folded often and bluffed rarely to his credit).
So that was all up and down, and all down to me. Then I hit a set (sixes I think) against one of those players who only press the bet button, ie minraise is his only bet choice. I raised, and he minraised, so I minraised, he minraised again, and so I shoved. Probably should have been careful as I didn’t have top set, but whatever. Anyway, he had two pair (J8) – another J came up, his FH beating mine
A little later I also hit a set over set with me having the losing set. On and on…
So I’m not sure what to do now. I’m considering trying a 2NL $100 challenge like S1ndr0me and Yegor have done, just to try and calm my play down a bit. Or take up a less stupid pasttime…

I’d recomend the challenge. Theres no shame in moving down a level. Admittedly its hard accepting the smaller wins but if you get your head around working in BB and not $ it becomes much easier. Once you have adjusted to the play you’ll be quids in!
Are you still 4 tabling? Two tables is working well for me atm as its giving me more time to think.
