After having a good weekend I was looking forward to building a bit more bankroll, but as before I just couldn’t seem to make things happen in the same way as the weekends;
If it wasn’t for a couple of big wins that would be a losing session – you can see the general downward slope of the times inbetween those all-in wins. I actually had a stack of $30 at one table (which didn’t seem to phase anyone at the table) but the final win of $5 shows that I really lost a lot of pots before getting there (auto reload is definitely very deceptive, although I wouldn’t ever turn it off – it’s essential I reckon).
What caused these difficulties? The only thing I really noticed was that most people called flop and turn cbets which gave very little wriggle room to win by just aggression. Other than that it wasn’t like the tables were full of 20/18 TAGS – probably only a third of the players were tighter than 25% VP$IP. I chased a couple of draws a bit heavily (and then missed) which wasn’t so hot and probably didn’t hit the flop too many times. Ultimately I guess I didn’t adapt too well, and what I should have done was tighten up and just play my cards. I saw that S1ndr0me reckoned I had one of the hottest run of cards ever yesterday, and that was was true preflop, but they didn’t hit too well after the flop which was frustrating (I think I’d rather have crap cards that hit the flop than a run of great AKs which keep missing).
I’m tempted to try playing first thing in the morning before work. Before the summer I could barely wake up until 11am (2 hours and 5 coffees after getting to the office), but with this hot weather I’ve been waking up really early. Possibly the only reason weekends seem so great is because I’m playing in the morning, while evenings are *always* worse. Who knows, although I don’t want to be one of those players who hangs on any vague coincidence to make excuses for not winning (it’s all variance, not me!!!).
Update: Just gone over some of my hands, and this was the biggest pot (very big really). A bit lucky though, although if I’d have not hit on the river and folded it would only have been a loss of $3.40 (lol, only! Still, compared to the win it’s not that bad – good job the SB stayed in (although why? What on earth did he have to have stuck through all that betting? 5
maybe?);

hmmm I’d still be folding pre with those cards. especially if the villians stats were tight. Anyone under the gun raising with low VPIP and PFR is only gonna be playing kings or aces from that pos. Didn’t matter tho because when you do hit like you did he just can’t bring himself to put those aces down.
right, no more polluting meteorics blog for a couple of days. he’ll be thinking I want to meet him on hampstead heath.
