What hurts more is that the first half of the session I was being dealt hand after hand – my VP$IP was over 35 and I was even hitting plenty of flops. I couldn’t make anything really pay off, although it did all add up to $10 which at the time I was happy with. Just a teaser before they kick you in the nuts, clearly.

ps. stealing still working – made me $6 that session. Whoop-de-fucking-do.

Update: Ok, so I’m pissed off & not wanting to play any more poker. However, as usual, like Michael Corleone, it keeps dragging me back in… Rather than play, I went over my abysmal session and decided that while I did make some dumb mistakes, the score didn’t reflect the game. I reckon I deserved to lose $10 really, but other than that I was doing ok. Tilt was bad though towards the end – I feel it happening, and should quit there and then.

btw, more proof how stealing from the button is completely and utterly worth doing with ATC, here’s my lifetime history filtered down to where I had a steal opportunity on the button and raised;

31BB/100! For a long time I’ve always held back, only stealing when the blinds were clearly tight – only if both blinds had VP$IP of less than 25 did I usually try. Notice the nice increase of the last ~300 hands – that’s where I’ve switched to ATC. They would have to defend their blinds more than 50% of the time (between them) to make it unprofitable for me, and it just doesn’t happen…

ah, but here’s the flip-side. How about when I’m facing a steal attempt;

They virtually cancel each other out. However what is looking good is again the more recent hands – my defending is getting better and making the losses level out. Plotting them together shows that over the last 800 times I’ve been in a steal or defend situation, I’ve made a steady increase which came to $40 (about 16BB/100)
