ok, not played any poker, but figured this was a good chance to change my theme back!

Saturday, December 20th, 2008So I went back online since I wasn’t going out tonight (saturday night – how sad!), and had one of those sessions which was just a struggle from start to end.
At the end technically I’m still ahead, but only if I include this morning’s session. Really I lost $1.70, which meant I burnt through this morning’s winnings and so the end of the day was a measly 93 cents.
One table had someone called cuteguy59 who played very loose and aggressively. He seemed to be insanely successful at it, and was bullying everyone off just about every pot. Pot after pot. He had a VP$IP of 84%, and a win rate of 47%!
And yet, clicking on his history in poker tracker showed he was on a loss. Once the session was over I looked at his chart, and it looked like;
Even though throughout the whole session he seemed to be the big bad guy who was taking all our (especially mine) money, really he was doing not much better than anyone else. I was even thinking I could really learn something from him, but maybe not. Well, maybe I could – his postflop play did seem pretty scary, and perhaps it was just his preflop range that’s too wide.
iPoker Hand Converter
Saturday, December 20th, 2008I’ve found a hand converter by weaktight.com that works properly for iPoker hands at last (like for the Titan site where I play).
Unfortunately it still needs tweaking a bit, such as it uses links to their graphics and I’d rather have them local, but at least it converts the hand without errors!

Update: I’ve noticed that people are coming to this page from Google after searching for an iPoker hand convertor. The weaktight site works perfectly! The tweaks I mention above are for converting the 2p2 hand to html I can post on my blog. I don’t like the card images from weaktight and would rather they were links to a file locally on my website.
So I created this page; http://www.meteoricpoker.com/convert2p2.php which takes the 2p2 format, and converts text like :heart: to <img src=“/heart.png” alt=“”> (also bold & coloured text etc), so I can paste it easily here.
Feel free to use it as well. You’ll need to have heart, club, diamond and spades PNG file in the root of your website though…
Back From the Dead

I was beaten by sets left, right and center, draws failed to emerge, and just to rub it in, whenever I folded a marginal hand, of course the flop came out a monster. It almost felt like it was rigged to deliberately piss me off. Maybe keeping the folded cards in view is a bad idea, it only makes you feel you’re missing out and want to see more flops…
Anyway, here’s the chart;
As you can see I was on a crazy loss of $6 (3 buy-ins!) before making my way back. Still, I came out on top (just!), so a good day at last.
Essentially there were only two big winners there for me (big winners? Only winners really).

This time I only had an OESD (open ended straight draw), so I wasn’t that happy. However I was pretty frustrated at this point, so I guess it was a form of tilt. Still, it paid off, so must have been a good move 
The BTN in that hand was the same guy I beat in the other hand, so he must have been a bit pissed off. Especially because he did all the right things in trying to protect his hand against the draws, yet still the idiot called (me, not the SB, although what was he thinking?)

Friday, December 19th, 2008Today was a poor day, and one of those that I’m not even going to post a chart. I made a few dumb moves early on, and was gradually working my way back to break even (for the session). I was only down half a buy-in, so all it needed was one good hand.
Unfortunately I was watching the clock too much. With minutes to go before the end of my lunch break I pushed a bit too hard, and lost a further 25bb. Pissed off, I shoved at the wrong moment and was called to lose a further 100bb 
That’s pretty unusual for me. I almost never go on tilt, and when I do I usually have the sense to leave the table.
I think part of the problem was that an earlier hand had really pissed me off. I had hit gin with AQ, put in a 40% pot raise hoping that the other two player would carry on. They then had a little chat in cyrillic (russian? who knows), and then both folded.
Collusion? Well probably not, after all it is only 2NL, and what idiots would collude using the chat box. Still that’s how it felt, and the rest of the session was a bit tainted by it. I did leave the table pretty quickly, but was definitely off form (as such 
) for the rest of the session.
Monday
Monday, December 15th, 2008Not great today. I didn’t really hit any cards which didn’t help, and the money I won through bluffs/cbets were easily cancelled out by the couple of times I was called. What is mostly disappointing is that they were called with rubbish, and I don’t think it was because they knew I was bluffing. If only my made hands would meet such action, but of course it’s never like that.
